Watch and Recall
Equal time in, equal time out. No exceptions.
Field guide βHow to use this: the 3-Step Video Deconstruction Framework
1. Strategic Preview (no typing allowed) β watch the tutorial once, all the way through, at 1.5x speed, hands off the keyboard. Just map the macro-steps: what are the milestones, where does setup end and real development begin, what hurdles did the creator have to solve?
2. Interactive Multi-Pass Coding (the pause-button audit) β watch in 2β3 minute chunks. Watch a complete micro-step, pause, then write the code or execute the steps from memory. Don't type while the creator is talking β typing along is just copy-pasting with your eyes; pausing forces real retrieval.
3. The Blind Rebuild (the real test) β close the tutorial entirely. Open a blank project and rebuild the same thing from scratch, no peeking. When you get stuck, self-debug for 10 minutes with docs or an AI assistant before returning to the video β and only to the exact timestamp you need. Where you stumbled is your true learning frontier.
Map it onto this tool: use Stream Mode for phases 1 and 2 (your preview pass and your coding-along pass), then hit Stop & Start Build Mode right when you'd begin phase 3 β the blind rebuild. The countdown just holds you to giving phase 3 as much real time as you spent getting there.
